Video: Polamalu, Concussion Or Not?

Following his latest “concussion-like” injury, Pittsburgh Steelers safety Troy Polamalu will be a game-time decision against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday afternoon.

Analysis: 

Polamalu acknowledged after practice on Friday that his aggressive style of play could be responsible for his recent head injuries, but he has been doing it for so long that he knows no other way. “I don’t know if it’s possible, at this point, to change a style of play. I think that’s the case for anybody in the NFL, especially regarding the rules and fines that we have. They’re going to continue to happen, just because we’re instinctual players at this point,” he said.

Suh Crashes Car

Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh crashed his car into a tree at 1:15 a.m. today, but he was not hurt and was not impaired, police say.

Analysis: 

The Oregonian reports that Suh lost control of a 1970 Chevrolet Coupe while driving in downtown Portland. He hit a curb, a light pole and a drinking fountain before striking the tree, but he and his two passengers walked away without injuries.

McCoy Given Green Light

NFL Network’s Jason LaCanfora reports LeSean McCoy (toe) will play against the Seahawks, barring a setback.


Analysis: 

Barring anything happening in pregame warm-ups, he should receive his normal workload tonight. Start him as you normally would.

Austin Still Not Practicing

Analysis: 

Well, so much for the week 13 positivity, as it looks like his status is going to be doubtful and he may not play. It’s looking like Week 14 is more realistic but Laurent Robinson becomes a solid WR2 with WR1 upside this week against the Cardinals.

Three Giants Miss Practice

Hakeem Nicks (concussion, ribs), Mario Manningham (knee) and Ahmad Bradshaw (foot) all missed practice Thursday.

Analysis: 

Nicks missing practice is a concern, after he got lit up like a Christmas tree on Monday by Isa Abdul-Quddus. Nicks showed up to practice with headaches, but even with him being medically cleared, his status could be up in the air.

Kevin Smith at Practice

Analysis: 

We’ll see what capacity he participated in, but it’s encouraging for his availability for this Sunday, but frustrating for those that scooped up Maurice Morris.

Bradshaw Expected to Miss Week 13

The New York Daily News reports the Giants do not expect Ahmad Bradshaw (foot) to return against the Packers.

Analysis: 

Bradshaw is going to be re-evaluated but their pessimistic about the outcome. The Giants rushing game has come to a screeching halt since Bradshaw went down. Jacobs will get the start against Green Bay, but won’t find the running room all that favorable against their defense.

Marshall Detained by Police

Brandon Marshall was handcuffed and briefly detained by police in Broward County, FL after being accused of fleeing a $142 cab fare.

Analysis: 

The incident happened Nov. 14 and, according to the report, the cabbie woke him up and told him that he needed to pay his fare and Marshall said he wasn’t going to and that’s when he fled. Marshall’s agent says he’s innocent. Seriously? All this for $142?

Sidney Rice Placed on IR

Sidney Rice was placed on season-ending IR today due to issues stemming from his concussion.

McFadden Misses Practice Wednesday

Darren McFadden (foot) did not participate in Raiders practice Wednesday.

Analysis: 

The Raiders are on record saying their back won’t return until he’s 100 percent, and unfortunately, it doesn’t sound like he’s close. His workout yesterday, consisted of just some light walking. Steve Corkoran of the Contra Costa Times is not expecting McFadden to play this week.
