Give Me A Line — Week 16

12/27/2009 4:34 AM -  Craig Davis

SURVIVOR POOLS

It’s time for my top selections for Suicide Pools. If you’re looking for one sure-fire winner each week, look no further than this column. I’ll give you my top three, just in case you’ve already chosen my top selection. The roll will continue from last year where I barely ever missed.

LAST WEEK: 2-1 ——–> Arizona, Houston and Denver

OVERALL: 38-7

THIS WEEK’S SELECTIONS

1. Arizona vs. St. Louis - Can’t see the Cardinals playing three bad games in a row. Rams have all sorts of issues and don’t play well on the road.

2. New Orleans vs. Tampa Bay - The Bucs might very well be the worst team in the NFL, and now they have to play a very angry New Orleans team. Not a good combination.

3. Cincinnati vs. Kansas City - The Chiefs will get better eventually, but the Bengals have too much to play for and won’t let Kansas City come in and steal one on their home field.

BYE WEEKS: N/A

WEEK 15 PREDICTIONS

LAST WEEK SU: 11-5
LAST WEEK ATS: 9-6-1

OVERALL SU: 153-71
OVERALL ATS: 124-83-1

WEEK 15 SELECTIONS

San Diego at Tennessee (Titans -1)
I released the Titans Friday night at www.winners.com, which was obviously a loser. My apologies for a horrible selection.
PREDICTION: SU TITANS/ATS TITANS

Buffalo at Atlanta (Falcons -9)
Brian Brohm expected to start at QB for the Bills. Falcons want to go out in style and should win this one going away, 30-13.
PREDICTION: SU FALCONS/ATS FALCONS

Kansas City at Cincinnati (Bengals -14)
Emotional game last week for the Bengals… now they get back to business as usual. Chiefs building for next year, but should have enough left in the tank to keep this within 14. Bengals win 24-13.
PREDICTION: SU BENGALS/ATS CHIEFS

Oakland at Cleveland (Browns -3)
Wow, the Browns are actually a favorite!! Josh Cribbs is fun to watch… Derek Anderson is not. With the Raiders secondary being as good as it is, I think they’ll force Anderson into some bad decisions and should pull the “upset”, 17-13.
PREDICTION: SU RAIDERS/ATS RAIDERS

Seattle at Green Bay (Packers -14)
I’m sorry, but I don’t think the Packers should be giving 14 points to anyone, even as bad as Seattle has been recently. The Packers will win, but Seattle will use the clock with Justin Forsett to keep Aaron Rodgers on the sidelines more than he wants. Packers win, 30-17.
PREDICTION: SU PACKERS/ATS SEAHAWKS

Houston at Miami (Dolphins -3)
The Dolphins have never beaten the Texans since they became a franchise (0-4 all time). Miami’s pass defense is a bit of a joke and Houston’s defense is playing better every week. I think they pull off the upset today, 21-20.
PREDICTION: SU TEXANS/ATS TEXANS

Jacksonville at New England (Patriots -10)
Why is everyone still so in love with the Patriots? Jacksonville has played 3 road games this year in which they were major underdogs, and they kept all three of those games close. They showed me a lot Thursday night vs. Indy and should keep this one close as well. Pats win, but only 23-16.
PREDICTION: SU PATS/ATS JAGS

Tampa Bay at New Orleans (Saints -14)
The Saints beat the Bucs 38-7 in Tampa during their last meeting, and now I’m supposed to believe the Bucs will keep this one within 14 AT New Orleans? Well, I don’t. Saints score in bunches and win, 38-7.
PREDICTION: SU SAINTS/ATS SAINTS

Carolina at NY Giants (Giants -8)
Yes, we all saw what the Giants did to the Redskins Monday night, but on a short week of rest vs. a team that runs the ball so well, I don’t think the Giants have enough to blow anyone out… especially a team that played so well vs. Minnesota. Giants win, 20-16.
PREDICTION: SU GIANTS/ATS PANTHERS

Baltimore at Pittsburgh (Steelers -2 1/2)
The Ravens really struggle on the road and Pittsburgh still believes its playoff hopes are alive. Ben Roethlisberger really woke the demons with his last-second TD pass to Mike Wallace last Sunday. Steelers win this game, 23-20.
PREDICTION: SU STEELERS/ATS STEELERS

St. Louis at Arizona (Cardinals -14)
Cardinals looking for a “complete” game while the Rams are just playing out the rest of the season. Cards win, 31-13.
PREDICTION: SU CARDS/ATS CARDS

Detroit at San Francisco (Niners -14)
The Lions clearly struggle in road games, but something tells me they will keep this one close to the vest. Drew Stanton looked decent last week and we all know what Maurice Morris can do. Niners win, 28-17.
PREDICTION: SU NINERS/ATS LIONS

NY Jets at Indy (Colts -4)
Colts can’t keep winning, can they? Jets are fighting for everything they have to get into the playoffs after last week’s disheartening loss to Atlanta. Their defense will keep them in this one, but the Colts are still too good in the end, winning 24-21.
PREDICTION: SU COLTS/ATS JETS

Denver at Philly (Eagles -7)
Denver matches up with Philly very well, and with the Eagles possibly looking ahead to Dallas next week, this could be a flat spot for the Eagles. I think they win, but it will be close, 21-17.
PREDICTION: SU EAGLES/ATS BRONCOS

Dallas at Washington (Cowboys -7)
I am unable to provide analysis for this game as it can be found at www.winners.com. Results to be posted Monday.
PREDICTION: SU N-A/ATS N-A

Minnesota at Chicago (Vikings -7)
Have you seen Brett Favre play on Monday night? No, not Sunday night… Monday night? He’s pretty darn good and the Vikings are in desperate need of a strong performance. Chicago is in a horrendous situation with a franchise QB who would rather throw a pick than a TD. Chicago’s receivers are banged up and Matt Forte stinks. Vikings pressure Cutler into some bad decisions, winning 28-17.
PREDICTION: SU VIKINGS/ATS VIKINGS
