LCG weekend is here

The League Championship games are at hand for those participants in the WCOFF and FFPC who haveĀ  made it that far.

Unfortunately that does not include me and my partner as we managed to lose both our first round games last week. One of the teams will still qualify for the Championship Bracket (all League Winners and highest 44 teams on total points from the other playoff teams in all leagues), while the other team will be in the Consolation Bracket. Both teams will be vying for 3rd place and $500 this weekend.

We did have an interesting play with our “Captain Morgan” team as being the winner of best record and most points in our WCOFF league afforded us the opportunity to choose our opponent for the first round. Not sure if that was the good news or not because all three of the other teams had potentially good lineups and matchups. The bad news of course is that we chose the wrong team, guessing to play second seed instead of the fourth – of course we would have lost to the fourth seed as well and losing by 1.10 would have been more anguish than losing by thirty.

The NFFC leagues are in their last week of regular season play, so we will have a playoff update on those next week.

FAAB for many leagues has been turned off. That and the fact that I am still unpacking boxes from my household move last weekend will prevent a full on “You Look FAABulous” column this week, but….the most important thing is to know your league rules backwards and forwards. I am amazed by how many questions I get from people who don’t fully know their league rules. Pretty hard to give a good answer to a bad question. BUT again as I have mentioned the last two weeks, unless you are in a league where you can continue to add free agents throughout the season, you must have your quarterback and kicker backed up.

Sure you hope you don’t have to use them but ask the Warner, Roethlisberger, and Ryan owners how they would have fared with no second QB. Or ask the teams that had Jason Elam as their only kicker and are now locked out of getting a replacement.

Look carefully at the schedules for the playoff weeks for MOR defenses with great schedules (Arizona and Seattle come to mind) and try and weatherproof your kickers if possible on a schedule combination.

Good Luck in your League Playoffs!
