Some NFL Injuries Hurt More Than Others

Health went relatively unnoticed for two surprise turnaround teams last season although it was a critical reason they made the playoffs. Atlanta’s defensive starters missed a total of two games, while Miami coaxed full seasons out of two often-injured veterans: quarterback Chad Pennington and running back Ronnie Brown. On the other hand, not all injuries are as crushing as they may seem. The Pittsburgh Steelers lost safety Troy Polamalu to a sprained knee ligament on Thursday; when they lost him to the same injury in 2006, they gave up a total of 13 points in three victories.
