This might be a bit late this week but, we’re about an hour from the kick off of the Jets/Bills game (which could be a snoozer or the game of the week). We’re winding down the regular season and it’s time to make the tough decisions as to which person to drop for the streaking IDP. Here are some guys that should be available to help with your late season run:
Defensive Linemen
1. Tyler Brayton (CAR)
2. Trevor Scott (OAK)
3. Jonathan Babineaux (ATL)
4. Glenn Dorsey (KCC)
5. Derrick Harvey (JAC)
Tyler Brayton has received more playing time and has been involved in more snaps recently as Julius Peppers continues to struggle. He came away with 9 total tackles and 1.5 sacks in week 12 and has a nice match-up with the woeful Buccaneers in week 13. Trevor Scott has been moved to the weak-side linebacker spot for Oakland, taking over for Thomas Howard. He’s been playing as a hybrid DE/LB and now has tremendous value as a WLB. In his first game playing the position, he registered 6 solos and 2 sacks. Jonathan Babineaux has put up decent number as a DT and has 5 sacks on the season. In most tackle heavy formats, he’s a top 15 DL and makes a decent add (especially those leagues that require a DT spot). Glenn Dorsey has been quiet since entering the league but, has quietly put up decent tackle numbers recently and is a top 25 DL at this point in the season and has 20 tackles in the past 4 weeks. Derrick Harvey might be living up to his potential as he’s put together back to back decent games with 10 total tackles and a fumble recovery. He’s definitely someone to consider for the next few weeks.
Linebackers
1. Quincy Black (TBB)
2. Jonathan Goff (NYG)
3. Brandon Johnson (CIN)
4. Anthony Spencer (DAL)
5. Lamar Woodley (PIT)
I mentioned Geno Hayes last week and this week I’m mentioning Quincy Black. It looks like the move back to the Tampa-2 has helped both Hayes and Black. Black registered 11 total tackles and a sack last week. I like the match-up for him this week against a run-heavy Carolina team that’s starting an inexperienced QB. I’m mentioning Jonathan Goff just because it looks like he’ll be manning the middle for the New York Football Giants as they officially put Antonio Pierce on IR. Brandon Johnson is filling in nicely at the weak-side for the disappointing Keith Rivers, and had a nice 8 tackle performance against the Browns in week 12. Look for that production to continue should Rivers miss more time. Anthony Spencer and Lamar Woodley are high upside guys in big play leagues as their defenses look to be stepping up as they push to maintain or make their playoff push.
Defensive Backs
1. Al Afalava (CHI)
2. Malcolm Jenkins (NOS)
3. Terrell Thomas (NYG)
4. Jim Leonhard (NYJ)
5. Mike Adams (CLE)
These guys have a chance to make some big plays for your team. Al Afalava is coming off a huge week 12 performance with 8 tackles and a sack and has a nice match-up with the Rams this week. Malcolm Jenkins and Terrell Thomas are high upside corners, that as rookies, are stepping up and making plays for their respective teams. They are worth adding, especially for leagues that require a CB. Jim Leonhard looks to be making more big plays at SS and looks to be the starting SS going forward. Mike Adams has a chance to make plays at the FS spot for Cleveland now that Brodney Pool is done for the season.
