Wire Me This (Week 14)

If you are still playing fantasy football in week 14, either congratulations are in order or, you’re scraping and clawing to make the playoffs.  Either way, it’s another week of football to gear up for, so don’t give up.  I’m going to do things bit differently this week and give you some guys to look for that might be on your wire as you head towards the end game:

1. Jerome Harrison (CLE): He somehow got out of Eric Mangini’s doghouse and received 17 touches against the Chargers.  He ran for 35 yards on 10 carries and caught 7 balls for 62 yards and 2 scores.  He’s definitely getting targeted in the passing game but, makes for a desperate flex play at best this week.  If you can, grab him this week and look to possibly plug him in for his week 15 and 16 match-ups with Kansas City and Oakland, respectively.  Kansas City is allowing almost 144 YPG and the Raiders are allowing almost 160 YPG.  Excellent match-ups for this kid.

2. Chris Brown (HOU): If he’s still on your wire, grab him if you have the depth to do so.  Steve Slaton may not be returning to the lineup soon due to some issues with his neck.  Check on Slaton this week as he’s seeing a specialist to get a clear diagnosis.  Brown should get most of the work and gets the goal-line carries.  Houston activated Chris Henry from the practice squad and Ryan Moats is now an afterthought.  Brown’s the guy, IMO, for the remainder of the season.  The Texans have nice match-ups in weeks 14 and 15 but, their week 16 match-up is a bit tougher against the run against Miami.

3. Devin Thomas (WAS): Thomas had his break-out week this past week with a 7 catch 100 yard peformance and added 2 scores.  Thomas converted 7 targets for 7 receptions so he might have earned the trust of Jason Campbell, because no other receiver has, that’s for sure.  Thomas has always had the talent to be a good receiver and if this end of the season trend continues, he’s definitely someone worth adding to your roster.

4. Brian Hartline (MIA): He’s finally getting on the field more and is getting more snaps, additionally, he’s getting more looks from Chad Henne.  Over the last 2 weeks, he’s been targeted 17 times and has 7 catches and 2 scores over those last 2 weeks.  With favorable match-ups with the Jaguars, Titans and Texans, to go along with the motivation to make the playoffs, Hartline is making a late season push and is worth adding to your roster if you need the WR help.

5. Leonard Weaver (PHI): If LeSean McCoy puts up another stinker like he did in week 13, he might be in line for more touches.  He has some neutral match-ups coming up with the Giants and Broncos but, I like the match-up with the 49′ers in week 15.  He might make a sneaky start if you’re needing a desperate flex play.  I don’t see Brian Westbrook returning to the lineup anytime soon, and again, McCoy had 6 carries for 2 yards in week 13.  He’s someone to keep an eye on as the Eagles battle for the NFC East.
